www.englandrl.co.uk/article.php?id=15727Kiwi official to referee England v France Tuesday 20th October 09 New Zealander Leon Williamson will referee the opening Gillette Four Nations fixture between England and France at the Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster, on Friday night. Williamson, who refereed two matches involving France in the 2008 Rugby League World Cup, will be assisted by touch-judges Adam Burns (Australia) and Alan Shortall (New Zealand). Phil Bentham will be the video referee with Ben Thaler acting as the reserve referee. The Australia versus New Zealand match at Twickenham Stoop on Saturday will be refereed by Super League’s top official, Steve Ganson.

Lets see if there is any difference in the refereeing standards now they are on their own in the middle again.

Must admit this really annoys me about RL.
A Kiwi/Aussie based ref will have different interpretations of the rules than a UK based ref due to the differences in the rules. International rules are more similar to UK rules which they are a little unsure on at times.
Can you name another sport where this happens cos I can't? Can you imagine football or Union have different rules dependant on where the match is? Utter ridiculous.

The world cup last season showed this up for what it was, the slower play the balls being a prime example of it. does this mean that instead of being hampered by southern hemisphere players hampering our play the ball , we'll get penalised?

Which is actually good news for us. We couldn't live with the pace of the game in the NRL.
