Deon achieves first world tour success PONTEFRACT Squash Club's Deon Saffery beat Wee Wern Low (Malaysia) 3-2 in the final of the Savcor Finnish Open. It was Deon's first WISPA world tour success and an excellent win in the final against a talented opponent. Deon reached the final by beating Tniia Knuutila (Finland) 3-0, Sina Wall (Germany) 3-0 and semi-final opponent Fiona Moverley (England) 3-2. Pontefract pair James Willstrop and Sauraav Ghosal head for Kuwait this week for the sport's richest ever event, the World Open. Willstrop faces a last 16 meeting with current world number one Karim Darwish (Egypt) but he has a good record against him and in his current top-class form has every chance. Willstrop's best performance in the World Championships was a semi final in Hong Kong and he has not been lucky in previous attempts when serious food poisoning in Egypt and injury problems in Manchester did him no favours www.pontefractandcastlefordexpress.co.uk/sport/Deon-achieves-first-world-tour.5776737.jp
