Clayton gets surprise Tigers deal Castleford have performed an about-turn by handing Ryan Clayton a new one-year contract after announcing his release. The second rower, 26, was keen to stay after playing in all but one of the club's last 18 matches of 2009. "Having considered other options, we felt he could remain a valuable squad member," said Castleford chief executive Richard Wright. Meanwhile, hooker Kirk Netherton has activated a clause in his contract enabling him to stay for a second year. The former Hull KR player comfortably reached the stipulated 20 appearances in 2009. Tigers coach Terry Matterson is still looking to make one more signing to bolster a squad that currently numbers 23 and he plans to offer full-time contracts to two of the club's promising juniors. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_league/super_league/castleford/8339389.stm2011 Year of the Tiger !
