RFL urges Harlequins to increase Super League crowds The emergence of Louis McCarthy-Scarsbrook has been a boost for Quins The Rugby Football League has urged Harlequins to make more effort to attract crowds to the Twickenham Stoop. Attendance figures will be one of the criteria used to determine clubs' suitability for the next round of Super League licences to be awarded in 2011. Harlequins played to average home gates of just under 3,500 in 2009 and the RFL feels those figures are disappointing. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_league/super_league/london/8388266.stm

Why single out just one Club?
There are many others that 'could do better'
Even the well supported clubs should be making an effort to attract even bigger clubs.
Does the RFL honestly think that a club does bother trying to get the crowds in ?

Why dont the RFL employ a team of people to help promote the game and help the clubs boost crowds instead of singling out one club. (or if they already do make them more proactive as in a lot of cases it doesn't seem to work!)

I think it would be safer for the RFL to state that attendance figures MAY be used as a criteria for awarding a franchise, as MAY anything else they deem to be APPROPRIATE at the APPROPRIATE time.
