Terry Matterson has named his first squad of the new campaign ahead of Friday's clash with Leeds Rhinos with two potential debutants in the ‘nineteen'. Close season capture Steve Snitch and youngster John Davies are making their first appearance in a Tigers squad but in general the squad has a familiar look with the Tigers making few off season changes after having their best term for some years in 2009. Paul Jackson has of course returned to the club and is in line for a second ‘debut' with both he and Snitch impressing in the pre-season trials. Missing from the squad are Kirk Dixon who misses out following his injury last season and Ryan Clayton who injured his arm in training this week. Coach Terry Matterson said: "Ryan is very unlucky, he has had a very solid off season and was going well. He himself is gutted but he should be back in a couple of weeks. But I have no qualms about bringing John Davies into the squad. At the start of our off season training we wouldn't have thought that he would be ready but he has done well in the trial games and done some good work in training. "Friday offers us a tough start but it's a local derby and the guys will be up for the game and hopefully our fans will turn up in big numbers and give the guys a further lift. I can't say too often how valuable they can be to the guys and a strong backing at Headingley will certainly give us a huge boost." The 19 man squad v Leeds 1. RICHARD OWEN, 3. MICHAEL SHENTON, 4. JAMES EVANS, 5. MICHAEL WAINWRIGHT, 6. RANGI CHASE, 7. BRENT SHERWIN, 8. MITCHELL SARGENT, 9. RYAN HUDSON, 10. CRAIG HUBY, 11. BRETT FERRES, 12. STEVE SNITCH, 13. JOE WESTERMAN, 14. STUART JONES, 15. LIAM HIGGINS, 16. PAUL JACKSON, 19. KIRK NETHERTON, 22. JOHN DAVIES, 23. RYAN McGOLDRICK, 25. DEAN WIDDERS www.castigers.com/article.php?id=482

I'll be more than happy if we see a repeat of last years 76-12 win over the sister worriers.
