And the word from TM is : - AFTER missing out on signing Warrington-bound Joel Monaghan Castleford Tigers have turned their attention elsewhere in their hunt for a centre and expect to have a signing wrapped up before Christmas. Coach Terry Matterson (pictured) told the Express that the club was in the advanced stages of negotiations with an overseas centre and hoped to have confirmation next week. He said: “We are fairly confident of making a signing in the short term, but we have got to go through the process of visas, which can take time. “The player we’re looking at plays in Australia, he’s a centre and will take up a quota spot. I’m confident we are very close to completing a deal and by this time next week we’ll have something to announce. “After James Evans retired and Michael Shenton left we felt we definitely had to replace one of them. But we still have options at centre and it’s a chance there for youngsters Joe Arundel and Jordan Thompson. “This time last year you wouldn’t have thought they would have been centre options for us in the first team so quickly. But their progress is pleasing. www.pontefractandcastlefordexpress.co.uk/sport/castleford-tigers/tigers_close_to_signing_new_centre_1_2846582
