The Tigers get their Plans Passed ! ! !
Castleford Tigers has today (7 April) received detailed planning consent for its new stadium at Glasshoughton. In a meeting at the Town Hall, the Wakefield Council Planning Committee confirmed the detailed planning application submitted by the club in December for a 13,300 capacity stadium has successfully been approved.
Richard Wright, Chief Executive, Castleford Tigers said: "Today is another significant milestone for Castleford Tigers. "Having addressed all the relevant issues in our outline planning application, we always had confidence in the strength of our detailed planning application.
"On behalf of the club, I'd like to thank David Ramsden, Alan Powell and all at architects Ramsdens & Partners for delivering a wonderful design and application.
"This consent is not just good for the club. The delivery of the new Stadium will act as a catalyst for further development of the Glasshoughton site and will also kick start regeneration in the Wheldon Road corridor and Town Centre.
"I'd also like to put on record our thanks to the Wakefield Council planning department for their professional assistance with Ramsdens through the process.
The club's attentions now turn to realising the funding required to construct the new Stadium.
